The difference between centrifugal pump and gear pump

2021-01-27

What is the difference between a centrifugal pump and a gear pump? Today, Seken Pump will give you an analysis:

   Centrifugal pump: It is a liquid conveying machine that rotates, transfers mechanical energy to the liquid, allows the liquid to obtain kinetic energy, and converts the kinetic energy into static pressure energy through the volute. The working principle is centrifugal action. The centrifugal pump is characterized by a large working range and the pressure head changes with the head.

  Gear pump: With double gears, each time a certain volume of liquid is pushed from one side of the double teeth to the other. It is characterized by high working pressure, but small delivery process, and the flow does not change with the pressure head.

   The main differences between centrifugal pumps and gear pumps are summarized as follows:

1. The gear pump is a positive displacement pump. Its working principle is that one driving gear in a pair of meshing gears is driven to rotate, and the other driven gear meshes with the production gear to rotate. When the two teeth are gradually separated, the working space is The volume gradually increases, forming a partial vacuum, and the liquid is sucked in through the suction pipe under the action of atmospheric pressure;

2. The main part of the centrifugal pump is the pump casing and the impeller in the casing. The shaft of the impeller is connected with the motor. Before the pump is started, the pump casing must be filled with water to discharge the air in the casing. Driven by the motor to rotate at high speed, the water in the pump casing also rotates at high speed with the impeller. Due to the inertia of the water being thrown into the outlet pipe, the pressure around the impeller is greatly reduced. The atmospheric pressure pushes up the low water pressure and pushes the bottom valve to enter. Pump housing;

  3. When the centrifugal pump is working, its inlet valve must be opened first, and it is always open;

  4. Gear pumps are generally used as metering pumps, with small handling, high lift and easy control of the dosage;
                5. Centrifugal pumps are generally used to transport a large amount of liquid, and are characterized by large output.

   Generally speaking, the difference between a gear pump and a centrifugal pump is that the gear pump is configured to work together with at least two gears that mesh with each other, while a centrifugal pump can work with one pump wheel. In terms of flow, gear pumps can only provide a small amount of working medium, and the flow range of centrifugal pumps is very large.
